
The village of Ballater lies within the Cairngorm National Park area within close proximity to a host of activities and attractions. For "Royal Watchers", Balmoral Castle lies seven miles to the west. There are easy walks within the village environs and numerous Munroes within 10 miles of the village including Cairngorm, Ben Macdhui and of course Lochnagar. The Castle Trail and The Whisky Trail are long established favourites which are worth the trek, and for the skier we have Glenshee, Aviemore and The Lecht within a short drive. The golfer is spoilt for choice with several courses within 15 minutes of the village, including Braemar, Aboyne and of course Ballater itself. Whether you want to relax and

Park area. Ballater lies at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park which is a wonderful protected area of Scottish wilderness. The breathtaking views of the Scottish countryside are a must for the traveller. Remember to pack a camera and a good pair of binoculars and you will be rewarded with memories for years to come!
Ballater can be reached from Aberdeen to the east by travelling westwards along the A93 for about 40 miles. This leisurely drive will take about an hour. If you are travelling northwards from the Perth area, again taking the A93 north and west, you will climb steadily upwards towards the Glenshee Ski Centre at the roads highest point and then heading towards Braemar, travel east to Ballater about 20 miles away.
